MHC Truck Leasing Paves the Way to Green with Valley Proteins

valley proteins T800 Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 29, 2013 — MHC Truck Leasing will deliver 10 T800 day cab natural gas units with Cummins ISX 12G engines to Valley Proteins.

Valley Proteins renders and recycles animal byproduct to create renewable resources. The 10 natural gas vehicles will effectively reduce the amount of diesel used by Valley Proteins by 163,500 gallons annually, which is a direct reflection of the company’s overall philosophy to support green initiatives. As a result, it will have a net impact of greenhouse gas emissions reduction by 468.6 metric tons annually.

“We’ve been very interested in natural gas equipment for some time now,” said Richard Evans, Valley Proteins director of transportation. “There are a lot of unknown variables when switching to this technology. This partnership enabled us to explore our options in a low-risk environment. MHC Truck Leasing had the best solution to provide the trucks we were looking for, and with their knowledge and capabilities, they have ensured us that they will be able to help us run our business optimally.”

MHC Truck Leasing manages over 4,000 trucks for a wide range of businesses and provides service in 11 states as well as access to PacLease’s network of more than 500 leasing locations to provide coast-to-coast coverage.

“The natural gas sector is something we continue to focus on, as more of our customers are interested in learning about this technology to determine if it fits their needs,” said Todd Harrington, vice president of business development for MHC Truck Leasing. “Our customers also receive the benefit of MHC’s stringent maintenance practices designed for natural gas operations. We continue to be an industry leader in our portfolio of products we offer.”

The natural gas units are scheduled to be delivered to Valley Proteins on Oct. 29, in Charlotte, N.C., where drivers will receive an orientation on the units as well as the offerings that MHC Truck Leasing provides.

“We like to look at different ways of doing things,” Richard said. “We’re hoping this is a way for us to continue doing things down the road.”
