Adjustable wrenches are versatile tools that can be used in many different situations, however trying to use one to break free a stubborn nut or bolt usually ends in frustration and rounded fasteners.
If you’re in a bind and an adjustable wrench is all you have, try this technique:1. Slide the wrench over the fastener’s head so that there is full contact at the back of the jaws.
2. Tighten the thumbscrew so there is no play in the jaws at all.
3. Always turn the wrench toward the lower, adjustable jaw, never away from it.
